Permitting and Permit Exemptions after a Storm (Hurricane)
Following a Hurricane or a Storm Event the Army Corps of Engineers will implement emergency permit procedures to expedite the permitting~for repairs and replacement of structures, shorelines, riprap revetments, and seawalls in Monroe County.~ You are required to have a Corps permit to repair and replace structures in navigable waters/and or wetlands.~If you have questions please call 289-8928 or 743-5349 or e-mail to: Richard.P.Milloy@saj02.usace.army.mil .


FEMA TRAILERS AND PLACEMENT OF TEMPORARY EMERGENCY HOUSING:

Placement of temporary emergency housing, travel trailers or manufactured housing on private residential property or approved commercial sites requires a permit,~ must meet all applicable state, county and local utility hookup, housing codes and standards, and must comply with all necessary codes and standards.

For all temporary emergency housing placed in UNINCORPORATED MONROE COUNTY the requirements are:
1.      Obtain a permit from the Department of Health – ( 293-7518 );
2.      Obtain a permit from the Monroe County Building Department
3.      Documents you must~ bring to the Building Department:
Department of Health Permit
Pictures of Property
Site Plan of Property
Copy of Lease from FEMA (if applicable)
Name of Electrician (if applicable)
4.      Trailer can not exceed 8’ in width and 32’ in length;
5.      If a temporary electric pole is necessary it must be installed by a licensed electrician;
