Mission Statement
To maintain all County Buildings, grounds, constitutional offices, parks and beaches at the highest level of quality and in the most efficient manner to provide the employees, citizens and visitors with clean, safe and comfortable facilities.

This Department is primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of over 100 buildings with over 1 million square feet, as well as a few leased buildings throughout the Keys. The Department also monitors contracts for building maintenance, such as elevator inspection and maintenance, alarm system certification and maintenance, sewage treatment plant operations and maintenance, air quality testing, etc.

The following sub-departments come under the purview of the Facilities Maintenance:


*Since fiscal year 1995, Public Works has received funding from the Tourist Development Tax to offset labor and maintenance costs associated with county beaches and museums. The Tourist Development Tax has also funded various capital improvement projects at County beaches and museums.
