The Monroe County Future Land Use Map (FLUM) is a portion of the 2010 Comprehensive Plan which serves as a roadmap for Monroe County’s future goals and growth. Unlike the Land Development Regulations (LDR) and the Current Land Use Designations which are very specific and precise in determining the appropriate type and amount of development for a parcel the FLUM and Comprehensive Plan are much more general in the direction given regarding development potential and type. The types of FLUM vary from residential designations such as Residential High (RH) to commercial designations such as Mixed Use/Commercial (MC). It is important to note that the FLUM must allow the type of development proposed for a parcel if the County is to allow a project to proceed. The FLUM can be amended as is required however, Monroe County
is allowed to make such changes only twice per year.
