Construction work continues on the new Freeman Justice Center in Jackson Square, located at the corner of Thomas and Fleming Streets. Contractors poured over 200 cubic yards of concrete to form the concrete slab floor for the first floor courtrooms. Workers will be building columns and walls to support the next level of court rooms. The Center will be three stories high with approximately 58,000 square feet.

The Center is named in honor of William A. Freeman, Jr., William A. Freeman, Sr., William “Billy” J. Freeman, Thomas Jenkins Curry and Claude Freeman for their combined 100 years of public service in elected office to the people of Monroe County.
