State Cabinet; Attorney General Charlie Crist, Governor Jeb Bush, CFO Tom Gallagher, Commissioner Charles H. Bronson, present Monroe County Commissioner Murray Nelson with a resolution for dedicated service. Commissioner Nelson's wife Mary and Executive Assistant Donna Hanson attended the presentation.
Governor Jeb Bush and the State Cabinet recognized County Commissioner Murray Nelson with a resolution for his exemplary record of professional and dedicated public service to the people of Monroe County and the State of Florida.

Governor Bush presented Commissioner Nelson with the resolution at the September 7th Cabinet meeting in Tallahassee. Nelson’s wife, Mary, and Executive Assistant Donna Hanson were present when he was awarded the honor.

During his five years as a County Commissioner, Murray Nelson served as the Commission’s liaison to Representative Ken Sorensen and Senator Larcenia Bullard, and represented Monroe County on various regional boards including the Monroe County Land Authority as Chairman, the South Florida Regional Planning Council as council member, and the South Florida Water Management District as committee member.

Murray Nelson served as the Mayor of Monroe County and actively solicited support from his colleagues to temporarily suspend the FEMA-mandated removal of downstairs enclosures, to install the pedestrian bridge on Ocean Bay Drive, to establish a skateboard park on the scarified acre of land adjacent to the Key Largo Community Park, and securing a road abandonment providing one-and-a-half acres of land for safe youth recreation.

"We’d like to recognize you for a job well done," Bush told Nelson.
