The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved an interlocal agreement (ILA) with the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA) in Key Largo this month at the BOCC meeting. This agreement establishes procedures between the County and the FKAA for the coordination of wastewater projects, request for proposals, contracts, and alternative funding mechanisms. It also provides for the creation of an advisory committee and establishment of a process of wastewater services to County residents.
DCA Secretary, Thaddeus Cohen, (pictured far right at podium), attended the BOCC meeting. He thanked the BOCC and County Administrator, Tom Willi (pictured near left) for their support. Mr. Cohen is optimistic that the agreement will improve relations between the two agencies. The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is the State agency that oversees growth in Monroe County. |
