The Florida Keys Council for People With Disabilities invites the public to festivities honoring the 15th anniversary of the signing of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).  On Friday, August 26, 2005, there will be food and entertainment, as well as information and the opportunity to network with local politicians and a variety of social service organizations in three separate locations.

The Key West party, with music by Melody Cooper is at the Gato Building, 1100 Simonton Street, from 3 to 5 pm.  Marathon is having a picnic with live music Linda Byers on Sombrero Beach, mm 50 Ocean from 4 to 7 pm. The Center for Independent Living in Key Largo will have an open house at mm 103, Pink Plaza, from noon to 3 pm.

For more information contact Sandy Molina (305) 292-4500.

Signed into effect by President George H. W. Bush in 1990, the ADA states its purpose as providing "a clear mandate for the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities." This landmark legislation guarantees access to employment, public accommodations, public services, and telecommunications.
