The Counties debris removal contractor is hard at work in Monroe County. As of the end of the day on Wednesday November 9th, the contractor had collected 112,994 cubic yards of debris. They are currently working on the first pass in all parts of the County. The contractor estimates that the first pass in the Upper Keys will be completed by Wednesday November 16th. They will begin a second pass as soon as the first is completed.
To ensure proper removal, debris should be separated into the following categories and placed at curbside for pick up:
vegetative debris |
seaweed |
non-vegetative debris, such as furniture, carpeting, plywood, sheet rock, aluminum, wood decking and fence material. |
white goods (household appliances) |
household hazardous waste |
Any questions regarding storm debris should be directed to the Monroe County Solid Waste Department at 292-4432.
Questions regarding marine debris such as boats or docks in canals should be directed to Connie Robertson at 305-289-2505. |
