Over the next few weeks, there will be intermittent lane closures between
MM 106 and MM 66 while workers install camera poles in conjunction with the
Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) project currently underway in the
Keys. Workers will begin drilling the holes for the camera poles on October
10th and begin installing these poles on or around October 17th. Work will
be performed at one location at a time during non-peak hours (9 AM - 3:30
PM and 9 PM - 5:30 AM), Monday through Friday. Flagging operations will be
set up in areas where US 1 has only one lane in each direction. Left-turn
lanes and median openings might be closed at various times and locations to
facilitate work. During these closures, motorists will be detoured to the
nearest median opening, where they can make a U-turn.
For more information about ITS or this work, please contact Tish Burgher at
(305) 499-2391.
