In celebration of National County Government Week (NCGW) April 22-28, Monroe County is highlighting Monroe County services and how the county provides outstanding public service responsive to the needs of citizens, the community, and the environment.
NCGW, sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACo), was first celebrated in 1991 to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of the nation’s counties. The theme for this year’s celebration of NCGW is “Protecting the Environment.” Monroe County is one of more than 1,000 counties nationwide that participate in the week.
“Monroe County is proud of the variety of services it provides to the community,” said County Administrator, Tom Willi. “National County Government Week is a convenient opportunity to share the many positive outcomes that were accomplished on behalf of Monroe County citizens in 2006.”
