Senior Lunchtime Concert Series
JANUARY 2008
We wish everyone a happy new year. As we start 2008, we welcome back some favorite performers. These include the “Magical Mr. Mustafa”, Calypso and Caribbean performer and Libby York, our great jazz singer is back from the North. We also have a great variety of our “regulars” performing this month. Programs include music history lessons with Dave Feder in the Upper Keys and a Jazz fest with Gordy Michaels and Libby York in Key West. We especially encourage our winter residents and visitors who are 55 or older to come to the free “Senior Lunchtime Concerts”. Please call the Nutrition Sites for information. *

Friday, January 18, 2008, Libby York returns from New York and Chicago where she has been working on a new CD to play for us with piano accompanist Gordy Michaels. They will perform some wonderful jazz tunes, maybe even “Makin Whoopee”. This is always a treat. 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, January 30, our friend with the Reggae best, Mustafa returns to Key West with his repertoire of Island Music, Show Tunes, and standards. We are very pleased that he is back and so will you. You will love this “Fantastick” performer. Please mark the date. 11:30 a.m. |

Friday, February 25, 2008 Gary Chase and friend will perform at the Big Pine Nutrition Site and Senior Center. Gary will “rock the house” with lively music and loves to take requests. Mr. Chase is known for his dance music so bring your dancing shoes if you are so inclined. Locals and visitors alike will enjoy this concert. 11:15 a.m. |

Friday, January 25, 2008 Tommy Tunes, versatile guitarist who sings everything from Elvis to Jimmy Buffet will entertain at the Marathon Nutrition Site and Senior Center. Tommy is a local favorite and performs in many clubs and restaurants in the Middle Keys. He has a fine voice and is lots of fun as an entertainer. We encourage seniors visiting the area to attend this free concert. You don’t know what you’re missing 11:15 a.m.
Wednesday, January 30, 2008 prepare yourselves for the “toe-tappin, guitar slappin” music of Mike Emerson. Mike “carries” every tune well and has a varied and exciting repertoire. No one can be in a bad mood when Mike is in the room. So for some memorable and uplifting tunes come and see Mike at the Marathon Center. 11:15 a.m. |

Wednesday, January 16, 2008 Dave Feder provides a history lesson in song. Dave is famous for his ballads, folk tunes, and “music with meaning.” His performances are also educational. Often, when he finishes a song hw will ask questions about the original artist, composer, lyricist, and background of the music, providing a learning experience. Hear history come alive in Plantation Key. 11:30 a.m.

Dave not only makes the music interesting, he also involves the participants in sing-a-longs and takes requests. Thursday, January 17, 2008, Lovely and lively Melody Cooper will apply her magic to the Clarinova piano at Bayshore Manor. She will favor us with her beautiful voice and perform in a variety of styles. Although, Melody is known for her jazz singing, she has a beautiful operatic voice and may perform some classical songs.
