KEY LARGO—Traffic patterns will change at Mile Marker (MM) 106 in Key Largo in early January as part of the reconstruction of U.S. 1.
Northbound traffic will be moved onto new pavement in the existing median just north of Andros Road. To access Card Sound Road from northbound U.S. 1, traffic will go north on new pavement and turn right at the Y intersection south of the Circle K. In addition, there will be limited access to Abaco Road, North End Road and Garden Cove Drive. Traffic will enter the neighborhood at Andros Road and exit at Garden Cove Drive.
The change in the northbound traffic pattern is estimated to begin on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and to last through April. The change is necessary so crews can install drainage structures, connect the roadway into the new bridge, and rebuild the existing roadway.
Other traffic pattern changes scheduled to occur on U.S. 1 in January include moving both lanes of traffic onto new pavement at about MM 111 and placing southbound traffic in the permanent southbound lane from MM 111 south to the Jewfish Creek Bridge.
