The Community Support Services is aimed at reducing social and economic dependency.
Interim financial, medical, case management and other related services are provided to needy, disabled and elderly individuals and families who reside in Monroe County.
Assistance is supplemented with counseling and direction designed to restore individuals to self-sufficient status or to effect referrals to appropriate state or federal agencies for persons in need of long-term support.
The goal of the services provided is to maintain, restore and/or promote independent management within a family and community network.
The Community Support Services is funded through ad valorem taxes and state and federal grants when available.
