9/19/2009 Monroe County Tourist Development Council Q&A The Monroe County Health Department’s Thursday distribution of an advisory regarding dengue fever in Key West may generate questions from visitors traveling to the area. Because of that, the Monroe County Tourist Development Council has assembled a Q&A sheet with points that can be communicated to those who have concerns. The attached PDF document has been reviewed and approved by the health department administrator for accuracy. The health department’s message at this time is simple: There is no reason to alter one’s lifestyle or daily schedule, but it is prudent to take basic precautions against mosquitoes. It is also sensible for Key West residents and business owners to eliminate any standing freshwater on their properties to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. The health department is happy to answer any questions. Its phone number is (305) 836-7500. The Florida Keys Mosquito Control District phone number is (305) 292-7190. |
