Changes to Processing Fingerprint Cards

Impacting Minimum Standards, Retention, Out of State Equivalency, Special Chief’s Exemption, Firesafety Inspector and Special Firesafety Inspector.

Due to contractual changes, the current practice of paying for fingerprint card processing is being replaced. The process for submitting fingerprint cards is now as follows:

1. Obtain a Fingerprint Card. If you apply on-line, a fingerprint card will be sent to you. If you do not apply on-line you may acquire the fingerprint card from the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training (352-369-2800, Option 3) or from your local Certified Training Center. – No Change

2. Have your fingerprints taken. Local law enforcement can do this for you. There may or may not be a charge for the service.– No Change

3. Pay for your fingerprint processing. ~Go to http://www.fldfsprints.com or call 888-717-5699. The cost remains the same at $64.00. The applicant pays by Master Card or Visa. In the near future E-Pay and E-Check should be accepted but not currently. – Major change, fees no longer received or processed by the Bureau.
NOTE: Your fingerprint card will not be submitted by the Bureau until confirmation of payment is documented at fhttp://www.fldfsprints.com by the Bureau.

4. Mail your completed fingerprint card to the Bureau of Fire Standards & Training (11655 NW Gainesville Rd, Ocala FL 34482-1486) after payment has been made. We will forward the card upon receipt and confirmation of payment. – Major change internally.

5. Results should be back to the Bureau in about 4 days from the time the cards are sent for processing. FDLE will notify the Bureau direct with the results. – Change in that the time to process will be significantly less than under the previous contractor. - Change in a quicker turnaround from FDLE

6. Processing applications after receipt of fingerprint results will remain unchanged.
